Library Services
The library offers all of the following services to patrons.
Books-Audio Books-DVD's
Our entire collection is searchable through the Four County Library System’s online catalog. Simply enter a search term and click “Search.” A list of libraries that own the item will appear on the left side of the page—scroll down to see if Gilbertsville has the title you’re looking for and stop by to check it out!
If we don’t have the item, you can place a hold using your library card and PIN. We’ll notify you when it’s ready for pickup. Need assistance? Just stop in!
Magazines
Our library subscribes to a selection of popular magazine titles, available for checkout. Enjoy reading in the library or take them home for a closer look.
Archivist / Historian
The archivist/historian services are not available until further notice.
Print / Copy / Fax / Scan
Our library offers a versatile HP printer for your printing and copying needs, available in both color and black-and-white.
Need to send a fax? Use our convenient in-library fax machine.
Easily scan documents to a computer for email attachments or directly to your flash drive.
Fees:
- Black and white prints/copies: 20 cents each
- Color prints/copies: 25 cents each
- Full page color photos: 50 cents each
- Faxes: 1 dollar each
Public Access Computers
A Windows computer is available for public use, equipped with tools to support your tasks:
- Access web-based email (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.)
- Create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with MS Office
- View, edit, and print photos using our HP LaserJet x476 color printer, which produces high-quality color prints
- Photo paper is available for a small fee, or you may bring your own
- Scan documents and photos with ease
- Please remember to bring a memory stick to save your work.
Free wireless internet
Free wireless internet is available 24/7 for your convenience. Connect your laptop or device to “Library Public Wi-Fi,” accessible even when the library is closed.
As a registered library user, enjoy free access to a range of high-quality electronic resources provided by 4CLS. These include business, finance, current events, magazines, newspapers, children’s periodicals, encyclopedias, almanacs, genealogy, health and wellness, job assistance, literature, Spanish-language resources, and materials for educators.
Audiobooks and eBooks
Audiobooks and eBooks can be downloaded via the Four County Library System website using the OverDrive and Libby apps. Simply log in with your library card and PIN to access titles on your iPod, smartphone, compatible device, or computer. At the end of the loan period, titles will automatically expire—no late fees!
If a title is currently unavailable, you can place a hold, and the system will notify you by email when it’s ready for download. For detailed instructions, click the link above.
Research
Through the Four County Library System (4CLS), registered users have free access to a wide selection of high-quality electronic resources. Many of these databases are provided by NOVELny, the New York Online Virtual Library, while others are offered directly by 4CLS.
Research topics include business and finance, current events, magazines and newspapers, encyclopedias, almanacs, genealogy, general periodicals, health and wellness, job assistance, and more. These resources are available at no cost to patrons of libraries that subscribe to the Research Center.
